About the Role

We are seeking an experienced VP of Product to lead the development, procurement, and merchandising strategy for CourtHouse Groceries. You will be responsible for defining our product roadmap, managing vendor relationships, and overseeing the pricing and promotion strategies that drive customer loyalty. You are the architect of the "in-store experience," ensuring that our product offerings meet the needs of our diverse San Antonio clientele while maintaining healthy margins and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Product Strategy: Define and execute the product vision, selection, and assortment strategy to ensure we remain the grocer of choice for our community.

  • Vendor & Supply Chain Management: Negotiate contracts and build strong partnerships with local, regional, and national suppliers to ensure high-quality product availability and competitive pricing.

  • Merchandising Excellence: Lead the strategy for store layout, shelf-space allocation, and seasonal promotions to maximize sales and aesthetic appeal.

  • Financial & Data Analysis: Utilize sales data, market trends, and P&L reporting to make informed decisions on inventory investment, pricing, and category performance.

  • Customer Insights: Champion the "voice of the customer" by analyzing shopping patterns and feedback to curate products that resonate with our local demographic.

  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Partner with store operations and marketing teams to ensure that new product initiatives are successfully rolled out and communicated to the store level.

Requirements

  • Experience: 7+ years of experience in product management, category management, or retail strategy (grocery or high-volume retail industry strongly preferred).

  • Strategic Mindset: Proven ability to translate market data into actionable business plans that drive revenue and growth.

  • Financial Acumen: Strong proficiency in P&L management, margin optimization, and inventory forecasting.

  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead high-performing teams, mentor staff, and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

  • Communication: Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a significant plus given our commitment to the San Antonio community.

  • Technical Literacy: Expert-level knowledge of modern retail management systems, POS analytics, and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Excel, or industry-specific ERPs).

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Retail Management, or a related field; MBA is a plus.
